Drainage solution

One quick solution that would solve the storm water issue in the short term would be to dig a trench along the curbing, heading west from the existing drain at the bottom of the hammerhead. The trench would then run under the beach vehicle access path. No vegetation would be disturbed following this path.

Once past the access road the pipe could be left out in the open, maybe held in place by pegs, to run the water toward the creek, where it would run to the beach in a less damaging manner.

Proposed storm water path

With this pipe in place the storm water pits at the bottom of the stairs could be completely removed and the stairs could be shored up properly. We’ve spoken to a couple of plumbers and the consensus is that it could be done for under $5000.

Of course once all the capital works are underway it can be installed properly, but in the short term, its a lot better than what we have now.
